The Answer Of How To Move Your Weight Forward And Have Correct Golf Swing Motion!
Stand on the first tee of any golf course and you will probably see some of the worst golf swing actions around. However there is an easy way to put this right.
By far the majority of golfers will have a big slash at the ball and off its sails, slicing to the right. In most cases they will be falling backwards away from the ball, their weight staying on their right side. It's one of the worst golf swing actions you can have, but is a natural instinct as normally they expect the ball to go to the right and in an effort to stop that, they pull away to the left and backwards. The more people do this then the further right the ball tends to go, because the club slices across the target line.
So here's a simple drill that will help in getting rid of that slice and making sure that your weight moves forwards towards the target. Take up your stance with your driver and have a normal backswing, now on the forward swing try and step with your right foot to where the ball was with your driver opposite your left foot. By that I mean, after you have hit the shot, step forwards up to the spot where the ball was with your right foot. Now the only way you can do this, is for all your weight to be on your left foot. It is a good idea, especially on the practice ground to really exaggerate this swing motion by taking a couple of steps forwards towards the target. That will soon get you the feeling that your weight is moving in the right direction towards the target and not away from it. this will help in making sure the club is going on the target line when you hit the ball and not across it.
Next time you are on the course take a look at any of the better golfers out there and see whether or not their weight moves forwards. Find any good players will and you will soon see that at least 80% of their weight is on their front, left foot as they hit the ball and will finish up with around 90% at the completion of their swing. All of their weight travels forwards towards the target and not away from it. Try this drill out next time you’re on the practice ground and get used to your weight coming off your right side and onto your left.
When you step forwards try to keep as well balanced as you can as this will help with consistency. If you are left-handed just make sure you do things in reverse!
