What is the question everyone is asking fishermen? What do trout eat, and what are they hitting? Most trout follow a similar life cycle. They eat what is the most abundant and easier to catch and eat. When the fish are small, they focus on small aquatic insects. Nymphs, mayflies, leeches, and land are the lot of day to fish these small game. Fly fishing uses different flies to imitate these small aquatic plants.
As trout trout more they begin to eat large mouthfuls of food. Minnows and small fry of game fish and large crustaceans become the normal price and what are are imitated with a streamer fly.
All these elements are things that can be imitated by flies and fly fishing. This is the only fishing method that allows you to simulate the widest variety of game fish feed. So as a serious angler, it only makes sense to always catch fish you need to know how to fly fish. Not only does it make sense, but because the depth of this style of fishing, it inspires love and passion that carries through your whole life.
I know what most of you say: "It's just too difficult to fly fishing, I can not do it," but in truth you can learn to throw well enough to catching fish in one day. Casting is easy to learn and I'll write some articles with my own thoughts about it.
Choose your flight is something that most people try to complicate unnecessarily. When choosing a fly keep 3 things in mind. Discover what they eat, where are they eating it, then game shape, size, and color of your flight with the shape and size of the largest and less color (just as close as possible and when you have to choose between differing shades lighter or darker, choose the darker). But what do you do if there is no fish feed active. Which is a high percentage of the time.
It's time to leave a suggestive model instead of an exact imitation. I have more than I like to use when nothing is happening. They are a bugger olive or black woolly or a gold-ribbed hare's ear nymph if I think they will not rise to a dry fly, because they want to profound. If I think they could rise to a ten dry flies I Elk hair caddis use an Adams or a dry fly depending on what may have been on the water recently, but also the nature of the water I'm fishing. Elk hair caddis fleet on the water much more quickly, then Adams so when I bind water accelerates a hair caddis Elk. One thing to About caddis imitations just drag some times can help to attract a strike if it is a big fly for a beginner.
If I am fishing basement I use woolly bugger in the fast water and the gold coast hares ear in calmer waters. The woolly bugger represent a larger bite food and if a trout is going to have to chase him he needs to get enough calories for what he eats to make the energy expenditure Worth, and hares ear fly is just a very suggestive that catches fish. Take these with you on the stream the next time is happens and see if you can make a difference I think you'll be surprised.
By following these guidelines you will catch fish even during the slow times. I am Jerry Blake and I have been fly fishing for all of my life. My first rod was a fly rod at age 5 and I haven't been able to put it down yet (I have however gotten a few new rods to go with it). Goldie and the Three Hares $6.87 The Hare family--Papa, Mama, and Little Baby Hare--are enjoying a peaceful day in their rabbit hole until they hear a big THUMP outside their door. The thump is Goldilocks herself, who has fallen down the rabbit hole after being chased by the Three Bears. (I think you know why those bears were chasing her.) The Hare family is happy to help the girl, who has hurt her foot. But as you might imagine, Goldie is not a very good houseguest. She is tough to please, since every chair is too hard, too soft, or otherwise not just right. (If you were the Hares, you might agree that Goldilocks is loud, obnoxious, and demanding.) But when Goldie is finally comfy-cozy in the Hares' rabbit hole, how are they ever going to get her to leave? Margie Palatini and Jack E. Davis bring a hilarious, just-right twist to the nursery classic. |
