Up until now, Tooth Fairy costumes have always come in two main types. There are those that are glamorous fairy costumes with a little twist, that is to say something within their costume that represents a dental theme, and then there are those outrageous novelty outfits for men.

As we all know, the Tooth Fairy is a mythical character who gives a child money or gifts in exchange for one of their baby teeth, when they fall out. Usually, the child places his or her tooth under their pillow at night and the fairy is supposed to come during the night and take the tooth from under the pillow and replace it with money. The first type of Tooth Fairy outfit is a female costume and is basically a representation of this.

Typically, these type of Tooth Fairy costumes consist of a shiny white corset top and a white or light coloured ruffle skirt, with a pair of white or light coloured pink wings. Pretty much what you would expect from any regular type of fairy costume, except if you look more closely there is likely to be some sort of tooth motif or pattern on the skirt. Furthermore, the fairy's most important item, her wand, is almost definitely going to feature some kind of teeth theme.

Meanwhile, the second type of Tooth Fairy outfit could not be anything less like the fairy that comes to visit our children at night, at least I certainly hope not. These hilarious costumes are for those men that do not mind making a spectacle of themselves and usually consist of a white tank top with a big tooth motif on it, a pair of white shorts, a white tutu, a headpiece and some white fairy wings. Worn together with a pair of white stockings or tights, these kind of outrageous costumes are bound to be the talk of the party.

I began this article by saying that up until now there was really only two types of Tooth Fairy costumes on the market, but that might be about to change. Nothing inspires a new range of outfits like a Hollywood film does and guess what, a new film has just debuted at the box office and what is more, it features some awesome outfits.

The film, The Tooth Fairy, is a comedy starring Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, and Julie Andrews. Johnson plays a minor league hockey player nicknamed "The Tooth Fairy", because he hits the opposing players so hard that he knocks out their teeth. As the film progresses, Johnson turns into a real fairy and gets to wear a pretty nifty outfit. Only time will tell if this film spawns a whole new range of costumes, but in the meantime we have two great outfits to be going on with.
