There’s also the well-known Cheetah Outreach programme, where kids can touch the cheetahs, and the Eagle Encounters raptor rehabilitation centre, where birds of prey are rehabilitated and released back into the wild. The V&A Waterfront is a fantastic family destination in the Mother City. Apart from the world-class shopping and dining for which it is renowned, the V&A also offers plenty of family activities too. Boat rides, trips to Seal Island, and the spectacular Two Oceans Aquarium appeal to kids of all ages. You can also take a ferry to Robben Island, the infamous site of Nelson Mandela’s 27-year imprisonment. The Waterfront, as it’s known among locals, is also the ideal place for traditional fish-and-chips beside the harbour, and ice-creams in the sun.
