Last summer my daughter kept on at me about going fishing and the thing is I had never been fishing before and I just thought it would just be one long boring day.
Funny thing is I really enjoyed it and spending time with my child was one of the most therapeutic things that I have done in a long time and since then we have made it a fortnightly chore. So both of us go and I wish I had read an article on fishing basics before we attempted to try it so here is one just for the newbie fisher men and women.
Your need some basic pieces of kit which of course are your rod, weights, net and your bait. Buying a line that is not to expensive is a must because your soon realise that you will make lots of mistakes and end up going through lines like a knife in butter.
Now when we purchased our starter kit the box had everything included so all we had to do is learn about where we had to put the bait, weights and float. Tying the hook onto the line was no problem but then we realised that the line was just floating on top of the water, we then asked another person who was fishing and he showed us where the weights and float had to go, buy simply putting the float on first the we put the weights onto the line just after the hook with say 3 to 4 weights did the trick.
You then just simply cast out and sit quite until you feel a tug on your line and then the battle to reeling the fish in begins.
That day we never caught a thing but we learned a great lesson in making sure you go prepared and know what to do before trying your hand at fishing.
