There are several fly patterns to choose from when selecting the fly that is right for you.
The first fly, known as the dry fly, is composed by leaving longer fibers that give the appearance of long fly wings. These come in patterns such as Renegade and Orange Stimulator. The Mayfly Dries emphasize the winged area more on the fly and comes in pattern such as the Green Para-Drake, and the Light Cahill.
Caddis fly dries have thick bushy wings and bodies, and have two distinguished patterns known as either the Goddard Caddis or the Elk Hair Caddis. Midges are very small flies, almost like baby flies, which have either small fibers like random growing hairs, or small bushes and bodies. The CDC Midge Pupae is a very popular pattern to choose, as well as the Peacock Midge.
Wet flies place a strong emphasis on the wet appearance of the wings, displayed in the Horn berg or Professor Patterns. Soft Hackle flies have a long, light winged pattern as prominent in the Partridge Orange and the Pheasant Tail SH.
Nymphs are a fly pattern that creates the larva stage of development or the stage immediately after. This is showed in the Prince Nymph or the Zug Bug. Pupae fly patterns use rabbit fur to create a large poof of fir, such as in the pattern for the Deep Sparkle Pupa Green.
Damsels and Leeches display water bug patterns such as the Ostrich Scud or the Water Boatman. The Salmon and Stonefly Nymphs are long fibered designs with long whisker like fibers. Some of these patterns are the Brooks Stone and the Rubber Legs Brown. Steamers, Buck tails, and Sculpins are flies that place a strong emphasis on the length rather than width. In the Mickey Finn and the Olive Matuka, features or fibers are used to elongate the fly, creating a more visible fly for fish.
Fly fishing is becoming more of a sport than a hobby. More fisherman are tying their own flies and http://www.tyingflies.org object is to make it easier to ty the flies with information about the fly patterns, the materials that are required to ty the fly. We also have some information on fly fishing so come take a look, see you there.

In Caddis Wood $9.99 A tender, nuanced portrait of a timeworn marriage Told from the alternating perspectives of a husband and wife, In Caddis Wood explores the competing rhythms of romantic love, family life, and professional ambition, refracted through the changing seasons of a long marriage. Beneath the surface, affecting their collective future, beats the resilient and endangered heart of nature. Hallie’s career as a poet has always come second to her family, while Carl’s life has been defined by his demanding and internationally acclaimed work as an architect. The onset of a debilitating illness and the discovery of Hallie’s cache of letters from another man set Carl reeling and cause him to question not only his previously unshakable belief in himself but also his faith in Hallie’s devotion. As the memories multiply and the family gathers at their longtime summerhouse in the woods of Wisconsin, Hallie and Carl’s grown-up daughters offer unexpected avenues toward forgiveness and healing. With warmth and generosity, Mary François Rockcastle captures the way that the aging mind imbues the present with all the many layers of the past as she illuminates the increasingly unbreakable bonds borne of a shared life. |
