In the sport of softball, outfield is the last line of defense. They are the last hope of the launch vehicle to record an out and maybe save a victory for the team. Therefore, it is very important that a team is able to establish a solid outfield and they have the skills to play a position that can be very difficult at times. Put outfielders through various exercises, can help to acquire these skills and keep the skills they already have the clearest possible. Here are five exercises for softball outfielders to practice.

Drill 1-Grapevine
Objective: To improve footwork, concentration and the ability to capture all the outfield players as they move in both directions.
Procedure: The coach is about 10 feet front line of players in front of her and takes the ball from the front row player. The coach points to the right. Player rotates the shoulder and hips this side and perpendicular away from the coach. After about three or four steps, the points of the coach in the other meaning. Player, using the crossover step, turn the other way, still going in a straight line, the coach, never losing sight of the ball. After three or four steps, the coach points in the direction of origin. Player then repeats the previous step of crossing and turns in the direction of origin. The coach then throws a ball in the direction from origin forcing the player to catch the ball over shoulder extending from that side. Player captures and brings the ball at the end of the line. It is important that the drilling is carried at full speed in a sprint dead, and that the player changes direction when the coach gives the signal. Also, the player should never lose sight of the ball. Flies be difficult and requires much effort to make the catch. When the fielder caught the ball, the next player in line has already in standby position.
Outfield Drill 2-Loop
Objective: The land of an assortment of balls hit and field with different footwork positions. To lay the foundations and different condition.
Procedure: This exercise uses 5-9 players. The players are in left field and second (with a ball) and third base, with a player who catches and a fungo hitter at the plate. A player works through all the defensive plays that follow.

2. The left fielder runs into center field where The second baseman throws a ball. The player catches the fly and throws to second base.
3, then the player goes to right field where the player second goal of launching a ground ball toward the foul line. The player fields the ball and throws to third base.
4. Finally, the player goes to left field where the batter hits a ground ball that is launched at home.
After the player completes the circuit, the outfielder becomes the collector to the house, Tray rotates at third base, third base running to second base, second base and turned to left field. Other players are waiting their turn to the field position.
Drill 3-Shoestring Catch
Objective: diving practice decisions and few resources.
Procedure: This exercise uses 2-10 players. Players form three lines, standing about 60 feet from the coach. The lines are positioned about 20 feet away. The coach has all the softballs. The first player in line A runs to the coach. When it is mid-way through the coach, a soft underhand throw is done at the player's left, right, or straight. If the player taking diving, it must keep the ball so that the coach can see it. This will help the player remember to keep the ball in play if the referee can see it took the ball. The player tries to catch, throw the ball to the coach, and will continue until the end of his line. The first player in line B then runs to the car, then the first player in line C.
Drill 4-Bump Out
Objective: To put pressure on the game as infielder or outfielder.
Procedure: Set up for one of the exercises defense listed above. An additional player waiting on the side of the drill.
